A Hidden Gem in the Himalayas During a recent trip to the Himalayas, my family and I had the pleasure of staying at The Sumer Hotel, tucked slightly off the main Shimla road. On our way back to Delhi, we were delighted to find a serene escape — no traffic, no pollution, just peace and fresh mountain air. What truly surprised us, though, was the exceptional dining experience at 1971 Restaurant. The food was outstanding — every dish was crafted with care and rich in flavour. A special mention must go to the Sirmouri Red Meat, which was absolutely out of this world — a true culinary masterpiece! Highly recommended for those looking for a refreshing break, warm hospitality, and unforgettable food.

On my way to Dehradun to receive the Himachal Ratan award from actress Ms. Esha Deol, I had the pleasure of staying at Sumer Hotel in the Himalayas, located in Sarahan, Pachhad (Sirmaur). The property is beautifully built, reflecting traditional Himachali architecture with great attention to detail. The ambience, food, and service were truly outstanding. A special thanks to Rajesh and Vijay for their warm hospitality and personalised care. Despite our late arrival from Kullu, the team ensured we were served a delicious meal — a gesture we’re truly grateful for. The view of Churdhar Peak from the hotel is simply breathtaking. Also appreciate the smooth drive on the Nahan–Shimla road to Dehradun and Mussoorie — no traffic at all! And lastly, a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful family who runs this hotel for a thoughtful gesture towards our son during checkout. Highly recommended for anyone seeking peace, nature, and heartfelt hospitality in the Himalayas.
